Remember the Time…we went to that concert?

Let me start this by giving a tremendous shout out to all the awesome folks who contributed to Remember the Time last week! Each time Kelly and I checked the Inlinkz widget to read your posts, it seemed like they were breeding. One post, two posts, all the way to fifteen posts! Some were funny, some were pensive. They were all awesome. Thank you to everyone who dropped by the party last week! Feel free to grab our badge (you can find it on the sidebar to mine and Kelly’s blogs) and stick it on your own sidebar to show your readers that you are a part of our cult have succumbed to the glories of nostalgia.

Now for this week’s theme. For me at least, there is nothing like a good tune to get those nostalgia juices flowing. However, good tunes are often in short supply so I’ll have to settle for some of the less bragworthy musicians I listened to growing up. The first concert I ever went to fits this bill well. I won’t tell you who I saw croon just yet, but lemme just say that it was pretty much the ’90’s antithesis of Alanis Morisette. First concerts are a rite of passage into young adulthood, and that’s why we want you to tell us all about the first one you ever went to for Remember the Time this week.

Write your post anytime this week and then check back here and at Are You Finished Yet? on Thursday to link up with Kelly and me! See you then!

OOH OOH! One more thing! Have you entered to win the totally amazing prize pack from The Tragic Whale yet? Today is the LAST DAY to do so and to get a 15% off discount from Kerry’s Tragic Whale Etsy store. To get the discount, just enter TheWaiting15 at checkout. To enter the giveaway (do it! 1. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for this one! My first concert was Bon Jovi when I was about six, so I decidedly have a different slant here. ;)

    1. It’s a fun story! I mean, it wasn’t fun at the time, but it’s fun now. Also, BON JOVI WHEN YOU WERE SIX?! Your parents were some cool folk ;D xoxox

  2. First two concerts were ratt opening for poison, and Iron Maiden.
I have no idea how many I’ve seen since then…

    1. Pleeeeease write about it, for no other reason than we get to see some Eddie art.

  3. Last week’s hop was AMAZING! Way to go blog friends! I will say that who you saw in concert is probably equally as horrifying as my first concert…but yours has better hair. :)

    1. Last week was awesome! *Crosses fingers than enough people drank the Kool-Aid that they will be back*

  4. I’m so bummed I didn’t get a picture of my bangs and flannel for my school picture post!

    1. That’s OK! I bet you can find another way to slip it in ;D

  5. I’ve got a pretty good first concert story and would love to grab your badge to link but can’t figure out how to do that. Little help?

    1. Sure! If you would like to display the badge in your RTT post, simply save the image located on my sidebar to your computer and then upload it into your post using the “Add Media” button.

If you would like to permanently display it in your sidebar, go to your WordPress dashboard. Scroll down to the Widgets and create an Image widget. Right click the badge that’s located on my blog and select “copy image URL”, and then paste it into the image URL slot on the widget.

      Hope this helps!

      1. Yes! That helps enormously. As with most computer stuff, the answer seem obvious…once someone explains it. Thank you!

My First Concert will appear soon.

  6. I could use some help as well. I don’t get it. I’m new to blogging and I have an awful concert story and thank God there are no pictures! I don’t know if I can get it written today, but if I did, then what? Do I post it and paste the link here in the comments?? What next? Thx

    1. Hi! So excited that you want to participate! It is OK if you don’t have time to write your post by tomorrow (Thursday). The linkup will be “open” until Sunday at midnight EST so you can write your post anytime before then. On Thursday, I will post my own take on the prompt. At the bottom of my post, there will be a blue Inlinkz box where you can share your link and also see all the other posts that other bloggers wrote.

Let me know if you need any more info! Always happy to help!

      1. Oops, I guess I’ll have to skip this one. I sat and hammered out my “worst concert” and not my “first”. I don’t want to spoil the event so I guess I’ll just save my story for one of my ‘normal’ growing up stories (which are what I am writing). Sorry for wasting your time. It was Foreigner – 1977 (I think) ;)

  7. My first was Green Day :D Epic then, epic to me now.

  8. […] week, Emily and Kelly have told me to write about about going to concerts. And so I […]

  9. […] the HFStival is the concert that stood out when The Waiting posted this week’s “Remember the Time” theme (for which I am publishing about two minutes too late to link up, but I’m having trouble […]

Now you can hold the magic talking stick.
