Did you know you missed me? Because you did.

So, long time no see. I kind of have the shakes right now because I have been busy the past few days and haven’t been able to write anything substantive or read as many blogs as I normally do. My mom has been in town hanging out with us, so that’s my alibi. Adorable outfits for Wee Cee have been purchased, delicious beers have been consumed whilst the baby was left in my mom’s charge, and very little blogging has taken place. I do have a bunch of stuff a-brewin’, though, so once things get back to normal I will resume my stalkage of the Internet.

Big things have been happening, though. In case you missed it, A Clown on Fire (finally) got Freshly Pressed! Between him and Liquorstore Bear also (finally) getting FP’d, I have been having little blogging parties in my head and in real life (see aforementioned reference to beer.) There are few things better than seeing your friends get the attention they rightfully deserve for outstanding work, and I congratulate them both heartily. Hip hip hooray for two of my favorite bloggers from the land to the north!

Le Clown was Freshly Pressed for a piece he wrote about his latest project, the formation of a blogging group called Bloggers for Movember to help spread awareness of prostate cancer and mental health issues during the month of November. He kindly invited me to help in his endeavor, which I was more than happy to do. This is already promising to be his biggest project yet. I urge you to hop on the bandwagon if you haven’t already.  Benevolence feels good because it is good. Does it feel as good as blogging? Highly likely.

  1. Nothing beats having your mom visit so that you can make a much needed escape. Am I right? The only babysitter I ever trusted was my mom and even then, I had to give her plenty of instructions. haha! I’m glad you were able to get out and have some fun.
Freedom tastes extra delicious once you have a baby. :)

    1. You are very, very right! It’s been nice having her around. C and her are partners in crime. Plus, it’s amazing how much better food and drinks at a restaurant taste when B and I can actually sit back and enjoy them.

  2. Le Clown Freshly Pressed…it’s like I woke up on Mars or something…

    1. Haha! That’s exactly how I felt. :)

      1. Me too! Still looking for those Four Horsemen.

    2. I know, right? Before you know it, Justin Timberlake’s overhaul of MySpace is going to actually be popular.

  3. Always nice to have family around and blogging should most certainly take a back seat to that, Em. Glad you enjoyed (and still enjoying) – ? your time with your loved ones — it’s so important, yes?

    1. Thanks, Brig! It has been really nice seeing her and letting her get to know C during this exciting point in her little life (she’s rolling and babbling now so her personality has really emerged since the last time my mom saw her.) It’s so critical for C to know her family!

  4. This is such an exciting time in the blog world. I don’t think I have left internet for more than thirty minutes since Le Clown e-mailed us that first e-mail. I was even checking comments on the treadmill yesterday. Glad you had a good weekend!

    1. Welcome, Becca! It is indeed a exciting time! The only thing better than getting FP’d yourself is seeing it happen to your friends. Plus, you don’t have to wade through the endless comments from wackos (they happen, oh, they happen when you get FP’d), so in a way it’s actually better.

        See, I didn’t know that!

  5. Glad to hear all is well, and that you got some valuable play time when the babysitt- Mom showed up!

    1. Haha! I’ll take her as a babysitter over any ol’ teenager.

  6. I was having TBW ( traumatic blog withdrawal ) without you !! You are my fix de jour !! Glad you’re back ~~~

    1. TBW! Love it! I feel it too. It’s rough.

  7. I’ve been having a little Clown on Fire party in my own head. Glad you’re having fun with mom. Pictures of cute outfits are required. My grandma gene kicked in a couple of years ago and my son is only 17, so I have to get my fixes where I can.

    1. Oh pictures. There will be pictures. Most of her new clothes are for when she is 12MO but I am pretty sure I’ll be putting her in them before then because they’re so cute. There may or may not be a sweatsuit with owls on it.

  8. Yay for mom visits! Do you guys live near any family? Or do you only get to see people when they come in for visits?

    1. Nah, both our moms live a couple days drive away, so when we get to see them it’s a pretty big deal. We will miss her when she goes back.

      1. Hmm. The reason I was asking is because Zach just got offered a promotion, which is awesome, but would mean us moving to Omaha, NE. We feel like it’s a good move for us, but we’d be leaving both of our families behind, so we’re both trying to figure out how that would all play out. I mean, I know we’d be fine, but I feel a weird level of guilt taking Sonia away from her grandparents, aunts, etc. I think that’s mostly because my mom has already given me a huge guilt trip about it. I guess I just needed to know that people live away from family and still do just fine. lol

        1. We do fine, but there are days when I really really wish we lived closer to family simply because they are the best babysitters in the world and I don’t get a lot of breaks from C. She is still small and I don’t like the idea of leaving her with a sitter who’s not related to us. I know you guys are thinking about maybe having another baby soon, and I won’t sugarcoat it that it is rough not having a lot of help in those first few months. I cried and cried and cried the day before my MIL went home after C was born because I was so overwhelmed.

But it can be done! As much as I love being around our moms, it’s nice for the three of us to have our own lives, habits, and routines.

  9. Oh, I knew.
    I knew.

    1. Heh. I thought so :D

  10. I am tingling all over from this. Little did I know, while I was passed out on the coffee table, you’d mentioned me ;)
