As if this were the only reason our baby will be awesome

Monday I finally saw my sweet lil’ perfect globule! Most exciting moment possibly EVER. Definitely on par with making a walk down the aisle, if that’s your cup o’ tea. I was so giddy and nervous at the same time to see Bebe because, well, I’m meeting my and B’s miracle! And so do you know what made it even more awesome?

No, not that it’s my baby who I made with my favorite person on Earth, although that is pretty heavy and mind-blowing.

Also, it wasn’t that (s)he is in perfect health and was rocking around on the little screen, getting her little baby exercise in, although that did delight me extensively.

No, it was not these. It was that Bebe was either waving  hello or winding up for a practice pitch. And Bebe has this adorable little anime triangle mouth that appears to be smiling. (S)he is one animated little character indeed (pun intended)!

B said that he thinks parents read waaaaaaay more into their babies’ ultrasounds than they merit:

“The baby’s waving! How friendly!”

“Look, the baby’s preparing for the GRE in there. Can you see it?”

Or, “He’s rocking out. Definitely going to like AC/DC.”

But we both agree that our Bebe, by her simple pose, is going to be a politician and a comedian, will have 17.3 close friends, will enjoy chicken tikka masala, will get married at the age of 27, and will *probably* graduate magna cum laude from Bryn Mawr a semester early with a degree in comparative rock climbing and a minor in flarf poetry. I mean, isn’t it obvious?

Hello, Bebe! We love you!

Can’t you see the poor child is trying to READ???? SShhh!

    1. I hope the baby inherits Ben’s ability to read quickly. I still swear that his ability to get through books at an uncanny pace is what enabled him to graduate a semester early in college!
