This week for the RTT Blog Hop, Ashley and I are throwing you a slowball. It’s the one topic we all have a story about or an opinion of. And no, it’s not everything bagels. There’s only one valid opinion about everything bagels anyway, and it’s that they are manna from Heaven. Case closed.

I love you. So. Much. Source
This week for Remember the Time, we will be exploring the topic of MTV. You can’t get out of this one. Whether you watched it, banned your kids from watching it, or wondered what the hoopla was all about because you’re 97 years old, you’ve been touched by the glory that is Bill Bellamy and his ilk. Tell us about the first time you saw Thriller, how you dressed your younger siblings up as Beavis and Butthead, or that proud moment when your teenage cousin posted on Facebook that she was going to be the newest cast member of 16 and Pregnant.
We want your MTV! Write your posts anytime this week, then check back at Zebra Garden or here on Thursday and Friday to link up with us.

Got an idea for a great Remember the Time topic you want to suggest? Ashley and I would love to hear! Email Ashley at aaustrewATgmailDOTcom or moi at thewaitingblogATgmailDOTcom to suggest a topic! Or just be lazy and tell us in the comments. That works too.
Boy, do I have memories of MTV.
I hope you share them!
Woooot! MTV was such a good idea. You are a boss.
Takes one to know one ;D
Hysterical. Singled Out anyone?
Chris Hardwick went to my school, albeit twelve years before me ;D
Everything bagels are really sent from heaven, aren’t they? Love your new blog look Em! I know it’s not brand new, but I didn’t get a chance to tell ya how much I liked it yet!
I feel like I didn’t watch MTV until it was too late. Like, I was too busy watching Nick and Disney. I didn’t have time for VJs. That’s what they were called, right?
Thanks! I like it too! Do you think the text is too small to read comfortably, though? I am a little concerned about that.
Did you know Ren and Stimpy got its start on MTV?
No I think the text is perf!
Omg you’re right. I totes forgot about that. I knew I was too innocent to watch that stuff…!
I learned everything I know about life from The Real World. Which explains more than I care to admit.
The Real World was amazing! When I was in college, a girl who my roommates (who were all several years ahead of me) knew when they were freshman was on it. So jealous!
My MTV-viewing days involved big hair, leg warmers, and shoulder pads. NOT pretty!
But blogworthy!
MTV and MegaMan, the key to a teenage boy’s heart in 1994. Beck’s Loser started the 20 year love affair with my husband.
MegaMan was the BEST! I loved that game! And have you ever YouTubed old Beck clips from when he was on 120 Minutes with Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth? It is great.
No but I immediately googled, it was awesome. And then my nostalgia for the early 90’s made me feel old.
I was 20 when MTV first aired, a newlywed, and still had door-to-door sales people knocking on the door of my new home asking if my parents were home…we watched MTV for hours back in the day…it was like a free mini concert seeing all of your favorite artists putting on a video show. Thinking about the original “VJs”…I wonder what they’re doing today…Nina Blackwood, Martha Quinn, Mark Goodman, JJ Jackson, and Alan Hunter and videos by Madonna, Pat Benatar, The Cars, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty to name a few.
I’ve wondered about their whereabouts too! I should look them up and report back…. ;D
I’d love for you to share your MTV stories on your blog if you get a chance to this week, Donna! If you do, be sure to come back here on Thursday and link up with us.
The only thing I remember about old school MTV is watching the Amish Paradise video when it came out. Then there was 6 months ago when I lied in bed all weekend watching different MTV shows online. The flu makes you do weird things.
MTV is online? That is really weird to me.
Most of their shows are available to stream online. Young people are busy!
I just got done writing my post for tomorrow. I had a lovely time hanging out at their website while I “researched” it.
The reboot of Beavis and Butthead take up all your day? Current MTV is amazing. Some shows are pretty entertaining and then it falls off a cliff and way down.
Ah. 16 and pregnant. A classic.
