Don’t worry; I won’t be offended if you unsubscribe. But the gym post is proof that I do talk about things other than diapers and that my vocabulary isn’t limited to adorbs, so I do hope you’ll stick around. But today we are going to talk about babies, so sit tight.

Please don’t eat me. But let me eat my hand, ‘k?
Miss C is four months old! What what! And ohmahgosh, you guys, she is The Best. I have tried to eat her several times because she is just so unbearably cute, but luckily B has stopped me before I get too far in preparing all the mise en place to go with her. I think I can now officially say that she sleeps through the night; I know I’ve been saying it for awhile, but I was always tempting fate by doing so. However, now that she’s 16 weeks old and she’s been sleeping in solid eight hour stretches since she was at eight weeks, I’d say it’s a habit. And boy oh boy, are we ever appreciative. Now, there are some caveats. She does sleep swaddled and she does fall asleep at the breast 99.5% of the time, so those are some habits that she will eventually have to be weaned from. However, for now, we’re going to let them slide.
Napping is another story. She is usually good about taking five to six 25- to 30-minute naps each day, but lately she’s become so enamored with everything that’s going on around her that she puts up a bit of a fight when we try to put her down. But hey, it’s my thinking that as long as she’s sleeping through the night, she can pretty much do whatever she wants during the day, short of inviting other babies for a cocktail hour at 5PM every day. Upper hand much?

Here’s the part where I bang the wow-they-grow-so-fast drum once again. She is huge! There is such a black and white difference between a baby at four weeks old and a baby at four months old. At four weeks, she was still in her chopped liver state of being, as my mother affectionately calls it. She moved in slo-mo, didn’t interact with me unless you count feeding times as interaction, and still kind of looked like an insect. On her playmat, there is a little dangling monkey thing that I remember trying really hard to get her to engage with when she was tiny. She had no interest in it, obviously, and I attached some loco postpartum ennui to that toy. Now she not only plays with the monkey but can’t get enough of it. It’s bittersweet. She chats with us when we talk to her and gives us gigantic smiles and giggles when she first sees us when she wakes in the morning.
I mean, come on.
She has also discovered screens. Whereas I used to watch TV or watch YouTube when I was feeding her, I hesitate to turn them on now as she quickly gets fixated on them. I’ve always heard that babies between birth and two years should not be exposed to screens, so I’m going to try to keep her from them. That’s a pretty tall order, but we’re going to at least try.

She is pretty much the most squishy, snuggly little gal you could possibly conjure up. She gets in good and cozy with us when we make a family sandwich. By the way, family sandwiches are the best kind. Om nom nom to a mommy, a daddy, and a bebe.
The Waiting 
Ah, so cute and precious! And so smart, just like her mommy and daddy ;)
She is brills. Today she was hungry and was looking longingly at her bottle. At least she’s made that connection!

What a cutie patootie. At first, my kid was a crappy napper, but slept though the night so I would take that over anything. He really didn’t get into a napping groove until 7 or 8 months old.
I think she’s feeling out the whole napping thing. Hopefully she’ll learn to relish them as much as I do.
PS Crappy Napper sounds like an angry old man who smells like sauerkraut. ;D
Happy four months cutie pie!! My cutie was 4 months yesterday also. Aren’t you surprised by how quickly it has gone by?? They are going to be in high school before we know it.

Yes, the clothes are almost a joke. I look at his onsies and think “well at least he wore that once…”. I am not sure if you have any crafty inclinations but you could make a quilt for her out of her baby clothes. We are saving all of Mr. Man’s stuff to make him a quilt to keep. What a cool idea! We haven’t decided yet if C will have siblings to pass her old stuff on to, but if she doesn’t, then I wil for sure want to make a blanket out of her stuff. My mom made me a blanket of all my fave tshirts from when I was a kid, and I love it.

They really are! I love when my husband holds us all together. It is the all-time best feeling, period.
Good times, good times. This is a good age. It goes so fast, like speed of light fast. You will never regret having written about your wee babe. I promise you.
I keep thinking the same thing. Sometimes I regret not being so dutiful with her baby book, but then I remember that I pretty much write down everything important she does here. Hopefully she’ll appreciate it someday.
So cute! And what a lucky new mommy you turned out to be! What a great sleep schedule. She seems so good natured. I guess I don’t have to remind you to enjoy these days since that seems to be EXACTLY what you’re doing : )
Thanks, Lisa! We really, really lucked out with such z pleasant, ready-to-sleep baby. A lot of the reason why she sleeps so well is that she gets formula for two of her feedings every day. It really fills her up and gets her through the night!

Anyhow, thanks, Lisa! We really lucked out with an awesome sleepy baby. She has been sleeping so well ever since we started supplementing her with formula. Those extra calories really get her through the night.
FA-REAKING adorable! I think our kids would have fun being fantastically cute together. Although I’m not sure that much cuteness would be allowed at the same time ;)
Haha! If we’re ever in Atlanta, we’ll have to have a playdate, although the entire state of Georgia may implode with that kind of cuteness epicenter!

Family sandwiches are indeed delicious. We take turns being the ham, cheese, and bread, now that there are 4 of us. When it was the 3 of us, we were always a cheese sandwich. Miss C is now a personality – so sweet.
Thanks, Beth! Before my brother was born, my parents always made bologna sandwiches with us because I was all bald and red for a long time.
First of all, color me jealous with the double FP. Congrats on it!
Second, what a big gal at 4 months! It’s hard to remember how quickly they turn from inanimate baby taco to actual human. Snuggle hard, because they learn to run away. And then want you to lay on the hard floor with them while pretending to put you down for nap. The bed is much more comfortable.

I am getting as much snuggle time in with her as I possibly can. Her first morning feeding used to be my favorite time because it could go on for 45 minutes to an hour with us both nodding off and being cozy. Nowadays she only eats for 20 or 30 minutes and then wants to squiggle out and play. Times, they are a-changing.
She is adorable.:-) Enjoy every minute.
